The Knowledge Terminal- a new Distributed Learning Platform

The Knowledge Terminal is a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS) that enables organisations to build their own Virtual Learning Environment globally to provide an online learning solution.
The Knowledge Terminal is available as a Managed Service or can be installed onto the organisation's own Windows server environment. It consists of a completely integrated Learning Management System, Content Management System, registration system and development environment.

A Training Portal is provided to enable administrators to manage all aspects of the system, including users, courses, schedules, bookings and the system itself. It enables the organisation to develop their own online learning programmes online or import external courses using industry standards such as SCORM.
The system provides every student with their own individual Student Portal account to enable users to register onto the system, enrol onto courses, complete learning programmes and interact with tutors and peer groups.
A Management Portal provides a range of internal controls and performance measures, including a Quality Management System to measure client satisfaction and service delivery performance against agreed Service Levels. Performance is measured and monitored across all nodes of the network.
Finally, a complete messaging system is provided that enables users of The Knowledge Terminal to interact with each other. For example, students can interact with their tutors online to review lessons, ask for hints or tips and to send completed assignments, which can be marked and returned.

The Knowledge Terminal is currently being used to deliver a new educational service called bizTerminal (www.bizterminal.org
). This is currently being piloted in the UK and Kenya and will be rolled out to other countries in January following completion of the trials.
