About Apperception

An established Internet Services Provider with its own rack space in Telehouse, London which is Europe's Leading Neutral State of the Art Datacentre and Co-location facility for the housing of telecommunications and IT infrastructure.

Starting in June 2002, Apperception managed a major project - 'Broadband for Learning' sponsored by the Learning and Skills Council (North London). Broadband for Learning is connecting learners with teachers, providers and advice & guidance agencies and is radically improving access to learning opportunities. Underpinning the project is the development, by Apperception and its partners, of BB4L Interactive, a broadband-Internet-enabled, web and data conferencing service.

Apperception

  • Web Conferencing is video-conferencing using the Internet.
  • Data Conferencing is data or application sharing between PC's connected over the Internet.

The service is one of the largest implementations of its kind with over 750 registered users across more than 60 locations and growing daily. A project now underway will see BB4L implemented in over 40 European academic and research facilities.

We are about to launch an exciting new product Vaultaire which will offer secure multi-user voice and video conferencing from an ordinary PC. It even works behind a corporate firewall - without compromising the integrity of the network.

We are also leveraging our IT and hosting expertise and have developed a Virtual Learning Environment based on the standards-setting Learning Management System ' Moodle'. We are the first organisation, as far as we know, to add a facilitated dimension to a virtual learning environment: we offer students face-to-face seminars using BB4L Interactive web and data conferencing integrated into the e-Learning environment. We have called this evolutionary advance 'Facilitated e-Learning'.
